I. General Sociology
1. Individual:
Humans are social beings who live and interact in society.
2. Culture:
Culture means the way people live, think, and behave. It is learned, shared, and changes over time.
- Types: Material (things) and non-material (ideas).
- Functions: Teaches knowledge, shapes behavior, builds personality.
- Elements: Norms, values, beliefs, customs, etc.
Also includes cultural ideas like formal/non-formal learning, cultural differences, subcultures, and concepts like ethnocentrism (thinking your culture is best), xenocentrism (liking others’ cultures more), cultural lag, high and popular culture, multiculturalism, assimilation, and acculturation.
3. Society:
Society is a group of people living together with common rules.
