PCS Sindh Exam: Understanding the Eligibility and Subject
What is PCS Sindh Exam?
The PCS stands for Provincial Civil Service, known as the PCS Sindh exam. PCS Sindh is also known as the CCE exam or CEE Sindh exam. It is one of the most competitive exams designed to select the best candidates for government jobs in Sindh. This exam is conducted by the SPSC (Sindh Public Service Commission). It consists of an MPT test, a written test, and an interview.
The Sindh government selects candidates who pass the exam for important jobs. That allows them to contribute to the province’s development and administration. These positions include Assistant Commissioners, Section Officers, and other Grade 17 jobs in government.

Eligibility Criteria of PCS Sindh
To appear in the PCS Sindh, candidates must meet certain eligibility criteria. It includes education, age, and nationality.
PCS Sindh Age Limit
The age limit for the PCS Sindh is usually between 21 and 30 years. However, there is some age relaxation of up to 35 years for candidates from certain conditions. Those include government employees, disabled persons, or those from specific backward areas. Education Requirement for PCS Sindh
Candidates must have a bachelor’s (14 years of education) degree from a recognized university. You can have a degree in any discipline. However, it must come from a university recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC). Some candidates may hold master’s or MPhil degrees. It can provide an advantage, these degrees are not required for the exam.
Subjects in the PCS Sindh Exam
Here is the information about the PCS Sindh exam subjects. Candidates are required to attempt all the papers that add up to 600 marks in the compulsory subjects. There are also optional subjects available. Aspirants can choose subjects of 400 marks from these optional subjects.
Compulsory Subjects
- English Precis and Composition (100 marks)
- English Essay (100 marks)
- GSA i.e General Science & Ability (100 marks)
- Sindhi/Urdu (100 marks). Note: you can select one subject either Urdu or Sindhi.
- Current Affairs & Pakistan Affairs (100 marks). Note: you have to attempt both.
- Islamic Studies/Comparative Study of a major religion (100 marks). Note: Comparative Study of major religion is for Non-Muslims.
Optional Subjects
PCS offers candidates to choose subjects of 400 marks from 39 subjects, divided into 7 groups. Candidates can select subjects from any of these groups. However, they can choose up to one subject from the same group. But, there is an exception to this rule—candidates can choose two subjects from Group #2 if they want to.
It’s also important to remember that candidates do not have to pick a subject from every group. Instead, they should focus on selecting subjects that align with their strengths, interests, and abilities. By doing this, they can ensure that they choose the subjects for themselves while making total marks add up to the required 400.
